Dr MacLean and his sister Cat will be attempting to swim across the Firth of Fourth beneath the bridges linking South Queensferry and North Queensferry on Sunday September 6th.

They are raising money for Maggie's centres. Dr MacLean commented -

"We have patients who go to Maggie's centres and get very good care. My sister Cat had that experience so we thought it would be a good charity to support"

"We dont really have a target amount to raise but the reason we are doing it is not really to get people to give money. It's more a chance to recognise Maggie's and the work they do."

"This has a community slant. The main drive for me was to highlight Maggie's Centres and appreciate the fab work they do."

"Cat went through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery and she is back fit and at work again. Everybody has their difficult times in life and it's important to have facilities like Maggie's."

This is the second time the duo have swam to raise money for charity, previously they have braved the swim across the Corryvrecken whirlpool between Jura and Scarba to raise £3500 for CHAS which runs Robin House in Balloch.
